Mesotherapy and Skinboosters Treatment
What are skinboosters?
Skinboosters are a product similar to very fine dermal fillers injected into the skin to hydrate nourish and rejuvenate.
They are different to the traditional dermal fillers. Fillers can be used to create volume in the face or to change the shape of the face, skinboosters cannot do this. They are microinjections placed only inside the skin to make it look younger, healthier and more plump.
They can be used on any part of the body, including face, neck, decolletage, elbows, knees and hands, where they can improve fine lines and skin hydration.
How do they work?
Very small amounts are injected by hand, in multiple injection sites. The product is placed superficially within the skin. The treatment activates fibroblasts which stimulates the formation of new collagen and elastin.
Who is this treatment suitable for?
This procedure is popular with younger patients, who want a natural skin improvement, and who want a “glow”. It is also a great maintenance procedure for delaying the onset of skin ageing. The procedure is popular with older patients who are noticing that their skin is becoming more fine, dull and less plump. It gives them back that youthful firmness in the skin due to the collagen and elastin stimulation.
It is not used to lift lines and wrinkles or to make a shape change on the face.
What is the procedure for skinbooster treatment?
Skinboosters can be injected by hand. Numbing cream is applied to the area for treatment 20 minutes beforehand. The numbing cream is then removed prior to treatment and the skin is cleaned. After discussion with the doctor, the patient may choose to use the skinbooster in full face or other body areas, or may choose to target a specific area such as the under eyes or cheeks.
Is mesotherapy safe?
While tests have shown that the injections are quite safe and rarely have any negative reaction occurred within a patient, it is still highly recommended that you consult your doctor before signing up for a treatment.
How do Skinboosters work?
Skin boosters rely on the hydrophilic nature of hyaluronic acid in order to improve and nourish a variety of different treatment areas on the face. Hyaluronic acid is a unique, naturally occurring substance in the body that can both attract and support 1000 times its own weight in water. When that powerful hydration is boosted underneath the skin’s surface, it can offer hydration and collagen production that is the foundation for healthy, glowing skin.
Can I wash my face after Skinboosters treatment?
As skin boosters are injected directly into the dermis, rejuvenation occurs below the skin surface. This means that patients can resume normal activity immediately after treatment. However, in order to ensure a smooth result, we recommend that patients wait to touch or cleanse the face for at least four hours post-treatment. On the day of treatment, it’s also best to avoid makeup, strenuous exercise, intense heat or sun exposure, as well as pressure on the treatment areas.
Is there any downtime involved?
There is some swelling from the product immediately after the treatment. It goes down in the next 24-48 hours or earlier as the product incorporates into the skin. Mild bruising may be a possibility that can be covered with concealing cosmetics.
