What is Profhilo?

Profhilo can be used on the face, neck, decollete, arms, hands and knees, or any part of your body where the skin shows visible signs of aging. There is an immediately noticeable improvement in skin tone, hydration as well as firmness, and lines are minimized.

Hyaluronic acid is best known as a ‘filler’ and is usually used to give volume to lips or to contour other areas of the face. Profhilo differs from the usual fillers in a number of ways due to its structure which allows it to flow over an extended area to boost hydration and smooth or ‘remodel’ the skin.

Profhilo® is a unique skin remodelling treatment that works by stimulating the production of collagen and elastin in the skin through the slow release of Hyaluronic Acid (HA).

Profhilo uses Hyaluronic Acid, a naturally occurring substance in the body to hydrate, firm and actually rebuild new, younger-looking skin cells.

This works on reversing the signs of ageing at a cellular level, stimulating new collagen and elastin cells, significantly improving the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles and giving you firmer, more youthful skin on your face.

Once injected it disperses evenly throughout the skin, so the effects are visible throughout your whole face, giving a much more even anti-ageing result.

How can Profhilo® help prevent wrinkles?

Profhilo® is capable of stimulating your natural production of all four types of collagen and elastin – these vital substances are lost from the skin as we age.

It has been reported that from the age of about twenty, each year we lose around 1% of the collagen and elastin from our skin tissue. As a result of this gradual depletion, the skin becomes thinner and as time goes by it has less and less of its youthful ‘bounce’. Profhilo® can help slow down this process with regular treatments.

How many treatments will I need?

A treatment with Profhilo® is two sessions spaced approximately 4 weeks apart. In some extreme cases of laxity a third session may be recommended.

The effects are temporary and repeat treatments of 1 or 2 sessions can be carried out from approximately 6 months onward in order to maintain the results.

How long do the results of Profhilo® treatment last?

You should notice the results of the treatment – increased firmness, elasticity and an overall improved quality of your skin – lasting around six months.

However, other factors can affect the results, including the degree of correction needed, your age and lifestyle and your skin’s natural ageing process.

What results can I expect?

A course of Profhilo® involves two injectable treatments spaced four weeks apart. You can expect to see a gradual intense hydration, improvement in lines and tightness of your skin. After eight weeks is when you will see the most improvement with a lifting and tightening of the skin – it will be more hydrated and appears more youthful and in better health.

Are there any side effects?

As with any injectable product there is always a risk of bruising. There may be some bumps, swelling and redness at the injection sites which normally resolves in a few hours. In some cases this may last for around 24 hrs.

Is there any down time?

You can usually return to work immediately after treatment, however you may have some slight swelling or bruises.
